Global water: 97% seawater, 3% freshwater 87% not accessible 13%,

accessible (0.4% of total)‏
• More than 2 billion people are affected by water shortages in over 40 countries
• 263 river basins are shared by two or more nations
• 2 million tons/day of human wastes are deposited in water
• Half the population of the developing world are exposed to polluted sources of water that increase disease incidence
• 90% of natural disasters in the 1990s were water related
• The increase in the number of people from 6 to 9 billion will be the main driver of water resources management for the next 50 years


Adaptation

Unavailability of readily usable climate information in some cases
Limitations of institutional setup and monitoring priorities
Inadequate awareness of the value of climate and weather information
Mistrust in the quality of meteorological data and products
Unfavorable packaging and delivery of climate and weather information and products
Reducing over-reliance on rainfall in developmental activities (diversification from rain-fed agriculture to more use of groundwater)
Reducing pollution in water resources (proper land-use management - policies)
Large isolated vs. small and well distributed water supply projects
Education and awareness
Promotion of water-use efficient technologies to minimize wastages
Monitoring, assessments and research (development of sustainable EWS)

بالرجوع الى التاريخ الزراعى السودانى واخذه كمثال نجد
السودان منذ العام 1926 فى مشروع الجزيرة لايعتمد على الزراعة المطرية
لكن حقيقية المخزون الاستراتيجى القومى ياتى من زراعة مطرية فى القضارف
رغم ملاحظة للسودان فرصة الزراعة باشكاله المختلفة لكن الاعتماد على الزراعة المطرية

Hello my dear friend, thanks for your valuable commend.
What you have said is true, but my point is when you be fully dependant on the rainfall you will reduce the chance of achieving your development objectives and that due to increasing the chance of uncertainty and this is from the general point of view.
In Sudan we usually depending on the rainfall like any other country in the developing countries, but that does not mean we have to continue like that, for Example when we plan for our future whatever Agriculture or any other sector we should consider groundwater and other resources that we can use to benefit the generation, when we talk about climate change we should put in our mind that the surface water is more effected than the ground water so when we plan for adaptation strategies the groundwater will be more reliable than the surface water.
